Biography

David Odom is an expert with over 35 years of experience in solving complex building problems related to moisture intrusion, indoor air quality (IAQ), corrosion and material failures, and deficiencies related to green construction. He has successfully managed projects since 1982 where remedial repair costs sometimes exceeded $50 million. He has managed projects involving over 150,000 hotel and condo rooms, hospitals, schools, courthouses, dormitories, convention centers, and sports complexes throughout the United States, the Caribbean, the South Pacific, Europe, the Philippines, China, and Hong Kong.

David has managed over 500 projects for the Walt Disney Corporation since 1982, including technical issues related to corrosion, moisture, and design and construction defect-related problems. These projects have been in Hong Kong Disneyland, Euro-Disneyland, Castaway Cay, Disney Hawaii, and several hundred projects at Walt Disney World.

David authored a 2007 mini-monograph for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) titled The Hidden Risks of Green Building Failures. He also authored a 2005 NCARB 125-page continuing education monograph on moisture and mold problems currently used for training architects nationwide. He was selected as "IAQ Industry Person of the Year" by IAQ Publications, Inc. in April 1998 and honored in 1999 as one of the "50 Most Influential People in Indoor Air Quality." Additionally, he is a co-inventor of an air conditioning unit (Patent Serial # 09/282,657) that improves occupant comfort, increases energy efficiency, and substantially decreases initial construction cost over currently available equipment.
